“Since contracting COVID-19 in December 2020 I have had crippling back pain, joint pain, muscle spasms, fatigue, anxiety, and severe weakness in my legs. I was unable to climb a flight of stairs, walk more than 15 minutes or carry a 5-gallon bucket. I am a union painter and had to go on light duty. I saw a neurologist, rheumatologist, immunologist, physical therapist, chiropractor, and of course, my PCP. No one had any answers for how to help me get better. I was frustrated and losing hope. “I contracted COVID-19 in December of 2020, and I was debilitated for the first five months.  I was bed-ridden from the fatigue, and I often spent my days with my eyes closed due to my eye strain and headaches.  I experienced a gradual improvement of symptoms over the next ten months, but when I started seeing Dr. Knutson in April 2022 I was still depressed and physically limited: one flight of stairs would leave me winded, housework was out of the question, a fifteen-minute grocery trip would leave me tired and of course I needed daily naps to recover.  After the first few treatments my depression lifted, and I could feel my joy and positive spirit returning to me. “After having contracted COVID back in December 2020, I realized after a few weeks many of the symptoms were unrelenting which led to my diagnosis of long haul COVID. Fatigue disappears, heart stops racing, and breathing gets easier
“After being very “safe” and responsible for nearly two years of the pandemic, my daughter brought COVID-19 home from school in January of 2022. I was very sick. There were at least five days I don’t remember. I was in bed for close to two weeks. It felt like I had a bad concussion, a severe case of the flu, and then got hit by a moving vehicle. After about a month, I was able to function more. However, at 6:00 pm every day, it was as if someone shut off my light switch. I was unable to do anything but sit on the couch. After three months, I thought I was healthy enough to hike with my family. My body disagreed. I was unable to regulate my body temperature, my heart was racing, and I had difficulty breathing. "A couple of years ago, I came down with COVID, recovered, and then went back to my normal life. But over the many months that followed, I found I had constant fatigue and intermittent brain fog.
